At the successful completion of the Course, participants are awarded a CPD eligible Certificate in Managing Disruptive Clinicians.

- Understand how to effectively implement and adapt AIHE’s RIJC© Behaviour Management Program within their unique settings.

Module 1
Health Leaders Responsibilities for Managing Disruptions Clinicians
This Module covers all the key healthcare leader with responsibilities for managing clinical staff, including your reporting obligations, ensuring clinician welfare, and undertaking procedurally fair investigations. It includes:
- Identifying the duties and responsibilities of a healthcare leader in managing disruptive and/or impaired clinicians.
- Identifying and recognising early markers and learn crisis intervention techniques for responding to confronting scenarios.
- Undertaking procedurally fair investigative processes, and responding to confronting situations and difficult conversations.
- Outlining the healthcare leader’s role in evaluating and managing the welfare of an impaired and/or disruptive clinician.
- Understanding the healthcare leader’s role in mandatory reporting requirements and identifying and assessing patient and staff risk.
- Understanding the role of AHPRA, medical defence organisations and Specialty Colleges.
Module 2
Toolkit for managing disruptive clinicians
This Module covers the key tools needed by a healthcare leader to effectively managing impairment and disruption in your healthcare setting. It includes:
- Developing and implementing effective clinician welfare action plans.
- Understanding the leader’s role in setting the tone for positive cultures within healthcare organisations.
- Recognising the link between disruptive behaviour, patient harm, clinical outcomes and operational performance.
- Undertaking clinical reviews and performance monitoring.
- Learning how to approach and effectively run face to face meetings with challenging individuals.
- Understanding how to effectively implement and adapt AIHE’s RIJC© Behaviour Management Program within their unique settings.
- Learning to manage “self” in response to difficult interactions and tough conversations.
