Advanced Registrar Workshop | Managing Impaired Doctors
Advanced Registrar Workshop | Managing Impaired Doctors
One of the most challenging aspects of a Medical Director’s role is managing impaired doctors, whose disruptive behaviour has significant impact on the tone and culture of the hospital.
Confronting disruptive doctor behaviour often exposes medical administrators to considerable emotional and psychological stress, and inevitably puts patient care at risk.
Medical Administration Specialists (FRACMAs) are expected to deal with such ‘problem doctors’ often without HR support and expertise (which in any case is often not very helpful).
Whilst this is the reality of the professional, most newly qualified FRACMAs feel ill equipped to manage cases involving medical practitioner impairment and disruptive, confrontational behaviour.
This challenging area of medical leadership calls for medical administrators to be well equipped with practical, clear, actionable and decisive plans of action.
This immersive & case-based workshop provides exactly that, and is facilitated by practicing RACMA Fellows, with over 40 years frontline specialist medical administrator experience in both private and public healthcare sectors across all Australian jurisdictions.
Participants learn best-practice strategies, to build their own toolkit for managing medical practitioner impairment, with real-life case based peer discussion in a stimulating & supportive environment.
This workshop covers the core knowledge and practical skillsets that RACMA registrars and candidates planning to sit the Fellowship Oral Exam in 2025 need to know.
